Staph Aureus Bacteraemia Rate
Mulgrave Private Staphylococcus Aureus Bacteraemia Rate (SAB)
Staphylococcus Aureus Bacteraemia (SAB) is a serious cause of bloodstream infection. Some serious strains are resistant to antibiotics. All SAB's identified are thoroughly investigated and classified as community or healthcare acquired (HCA). Healthcare acquired SAB's are reported monthly to the Infection Prevention Committee. To reduce the risk of healthcare acquired bactaermias, we implement evidence based best practise, focusing on compliance with standard precautions at all times in addition to aseptic technique, hand hygiene and invasive device management. Any increase in HCA SAB rates is escalated through our clinical governance structures and quality improvements initiated.
