Dr Rachel Blackshaw is an Australian Orthopaedic Surgeon, nationally and internationally fellowship trained specialising in all facets of upper limb surgery including wrist, hand, arthroscopy and microsurgery. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA – FAOrthA).

Rachel earned her MBBS degree in 2006 from The University of Melbourne and has a 1st class honours in Chemistry, BSc(hons) from Monash University. She completed her Orthopaedic training and passed the AOA/RACS Fellowship exam in 2018, becoming a consultant in 2019.

Rachel completed a 12-month Consultant position at Austin Hospital and honed her skills in general trauma and elective upper limb surgery. She then commenced her fellowship at The Melbourne Orthopaedic Group (MOG) completing 6 months advanced training in upper Limb surgery. She spent 18 months in the UK for a fellowship dedicated to hand surgery and peripheral nerve conditions at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham and was also an Honorary fellow at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital for 12 months.

She currently holds a public appointment with Eastern Health at Box Hill and Maroondah Hospitals.
