Coronary physiologic assessment using Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) technology

After finishing his advanced cardiology training at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane, Dr. Safaa undertook his first year of interventional cardiology fellowship at the Royal Perth Hospital in WA,followed by a second year of interventional fellowship at Wellington Hospital in New Zealand.

As a primary/solo operator, he has performed over 1200 coronary angioplasty procedures, with a high percentage of complex cases, and more than 2000 diagnostic angiograms performing over 90% of procedures via radial approach.

During his interventional cardiology training, Ali developed a special interest and experience in performing complex PCIs, intracoronary imaging, including Intra-Vascular Ultra Sound (IVUS) and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), along with coronary physiologic assessment using Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) technology. He is also registered as a competent operator for the implantation of coronary Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffolds (BVS). In addition, he gained experience in structural heart disease interventions including Aortic Balloon Valvuloplasty and PFO closures.

Dr Safaa provides consultation, intervention and patient management. He is fluent in both English and Arabic.
