Mr Charles Han is an Australian trained and accredited Consultant Urological Surgeon with RACS fellowship training.

Mr Han completed his Bachelor or Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Melbourne in 2003. After completing basic surgical training through St. Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne in 2007, he pursued advanced surgical training in urology in Sydney. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2012. Mr Han underwent further fellowship training in advanced laparoscopy techniques and minimally invasive urology at the Royal Perth Hospital in 2012.

Mr Han is passionate about minimally invasive surgery in urology. He uses the latest treatment modalities, technologies and surgical techniques to deliver better functional and oncological outcomes to his patients in conjunction with faster recovery and less operative morbidity.

Mr Han has had extensive training and experience in:

Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate

A modern alternative to TURP which is associated with reduced bleeding, faster recovery and much reduced reoperation rates (2%)

Urodynamics

Gold standard test for evaluation of complex voiding dysfunction

Minimally invasive stone surgery

A small telescope is passed through the water pipe into the kidney collecting system, using a laser the stone is fragmented into dust to allow passage. Stent dwell times kept to a minimum to avoid patient discomfort.

Laparoscopic Partial Nephrectomy

A technically challenging procedure that allows excellent cancer treatment in conjunction with renal function preservation for suitable kidney cancers

Laparoscopic / Robotic Radical Prostatectomy

Mr Han performs both pure laparosopic and robot assisted radical prostatectomy. Patient outcomes are similar for both procedures, but the robotic procedure is more costly due to additional hospital fees for robot use.

The cornerstone of Mr Han’s medical practice lies in his communication and care of his patients. He will clearly communicate and explain the relevant diagnosis and treatment options, and help the patient choose the best treatment option for his/her personal circumstance. Medicine is not always one size fits all! Mr Han will be present to guide you through every step of the medical journey, from diagnosis, to treatment and to surgery and the post-operative recovery process.
