Dr Prakash is a Consultant Interventional and General Cardiologist.
He obtained his medical degree at University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2003 and subsequently worked with the Malaysian Government before moving to Australia in 2008. He undertook his Basic Physician Training at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide and commenced advance training in Cardiology at the same institution (2010-2012). Following that, he undertook a year of clinical research in valvular heart disease. He went on to subspecialty training in Interventional Cardiology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital (2014) and moved to Vancouver General Hospital (2015-2017) for additional training in complex coronary intervention, (CTO, left main, vein graft PCI, mechanical-support assisted PCI, structural intervention (TAVI/ASD/PFO/LAA closure).
He is also an accredited Cardiac CT specialist and received training in Monash Heart, Vancouver General Hospital, Canada and Harbour-UCLA Medical Centre in Los Angeles, United States.
Dr Prakash has been involved in clinical research in a broad range of areas, including spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), left atrial appendage closure (LAA closure) and valvular heart disease. He has published his works in various medical journals.
He was awarded the prestigious CSANZ/ANZET Fellows Prize in 2014 and the Best Cardiology Subspecialty Fellow Teachers Award from the University of British Columbia, Canada in 2016.
