Dr Shane Nanayakkara is an Interventional Cardiologist with a special interest in structural heart interventions and heart failure. He currently consults at The Alfred, Cabrini Health, Epworth Health, and is in private practice at Heart Clinic Melbourne and Bayside Heart.

Dr Nanayakkara completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at Monash University and went on to specialise in cardiology. He completed training at a number of hospitals across Victoria including Goulburn Valley Health, Alfred Health, Eastern Health and Bendigo Health.

He achieved his PhD in 2019 with Monash University which focused on heart failure. Following his, Shane also completed two further fellowships in coronary intervention and transcatheter structural heart interventions such as TAVI.

Dr Nanayakkara is passionate about research and education, regularly contributing to research publications, delivering presentations at conferences and is a Teaching Associate at Monash University. He has a particular research interest in heart failure and artificial intelligence.
