Mr Brian Hodgkins' major interest is colorectal cancer and he currently chairs the multidisciplinary colorectal oncology meetings at Southern Health.

He has also been a driving force behind the introduction of ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) in colorectal surgery at St John of God Berwick Hospital. Mr Hodgkins graduated from Melbourne University in 1982 obtaining his surgical fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons in 1992. He consolidated his surgical training the UK, spending time in specialist gastrointestinal units at Gloucester and Kent. He is trained in general and colorectal surgery as well as endoscopy.

Brian is a senior lecturer in surgery at Monash University and continues to provide a service, in both the public and private hospital systems. He has been providing general and colorectal surgery to the south eastern region of Melbourne for the last 22 years.
