Kwang is a general and colorectal surgeon with special interests in colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and pelvic floor disorders. Apart from open surgical procedures, Kwang also specialises in advanced laparoscopic surgery and endoscopic procedures.

Kwang completed his undergraduate medical degree at Monash University in 2007. He received general surgical training at Monash Health and acquired fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2017. He then spent a year as CSSANZ research fellow at Hudson Institute of Medical Research with A/Prof Ron Firestein, investigating the transcriptomic differences between primary colorectal cancer and colorectal liver metastases. His second year of CSSANZ fellowship was at St George Hospital (NSW) under A/Prof David Lubowski, conducting research on pelvic floor disorders. His final year of CSSANZ fellowship was undertaken at St Vincent’s Hospital (VIC) with a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease.

Kwang has a strong interest in research with more than 25 peer-reviewed journal articles publications to date.

Kwang provides holistic, patient-centered care for his patients. He is multilingual and speaks Mandarin, English and Malay.

Kwang is married and has two daughters. His personal passions include photography, information technological devices, and maintaining his physical fitness with body training.
